I am an accomplished Occupational Therapist and the dedicated Director of Hamilton OT Solutions, based in the North-East of England and offering services throughout England. I bring a unique perspective to the field, being a permanent wheelchair user who has faced their own mental health and physical health challenges. With a specialization in mental health, I graduated in 2020 and have since been devoted to working in the community with adults experiencing various mental health conditions, ranging from severe and enduring to short-term issues. My expertise also extends to the disability sector, where I have assisted individuals of all ages with physical and/or learning disabilities both in the UK and abroad, imparting valuable wheelchair skills and conducting comprehensive assessments. With a remarkable fifteen-year background in educational settings, I have empowered neurodiverse young people by teaching essential social and life skills. A standout achievement in my career was my work in Russia, where I was involved with a small team of international experts who taught physically disabled individuals independent living skills. My extensive skill set encompasses the creation of OT assessments, reports, and interventions, supporting applications for aids and adaptations, PIP assessments, mental health assistance, vocational rehabilitation, independent living solutions, life skills coaching, and wheelchair assessments. Additionally, I offer engaging presentations on a wide range of topics related to physical disability, learning disability, and mental health. My commitment to facilitating personal growth and empowerment shines through my diverse and invaluable contributions in the field of Occupational Therapy.
Outside of work I have represented my country in wheelchair basketball, playing for some of the top teams in the premier division, with GB wheelchair fencing. and the GB Winter Sports Team I moved on from playing to coaching wheelchair basketball and had the pleasure of coaching some of today’s GB Wheelchair Basketball’s star players at points in their careers.
Nowadays I enjoy wheelchair curling with my local club Northern Ice and walking my dog along the many miles of County Durham's and Northumberland's coast line. I also enjoy travelling around the UK and abroad, which as a wheelchair user brings it owns challenges, so I am very aware of the challenges this can bring.
